In a new exhibition titled “PLAYWORK” by artist Michael Lau and Carhartt WIP, the overarching theme at work is the tug of war between work and play that informs every young person’s life.
There’s a total of 33 pieces on display and Lau continues to celebrate both street culture and artistic imagination, with a focus on his Maxx character from his acclaimed Gardener series, which originally came to life back in 1999.
In addition to the exhibition, there are dual 12″ Maxx figures, one representing a 16-year-old skateboarder, the other a 33-year-old painter. The former is limited to 50 pieces, the latter to 150, and both are outfitted in Carhartt WIP apparel, obviously.
The figures, as well as coordinating tees, will be available at the Carhartt WIP x Gardener pop-up, located at I.T HYSAN ONE at Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, alongside the PLAYWORK exhibition.
The show is now open to the public and runs through April 12. Check out an exclusive preview of the exhibition in the gallery below.
