Atlanta's music landscape is as vast as it is diverse. The Southern hip-hop mecca produced iconic acts ranging from Goodie Mobb and Outkast to the late Shawty Lo, and Gucci Mane. In 2004, the world also met six young rap hopefuls who performed under the moniker "Crime Mob." They burst onto the scene with the rollicking fight theme, "Knuck If You Buck," which helped introduce crunk music to the rest of America.
Over the weekend the once-disbanded group reunited for the first time in a decade to perform at Atlanta's V-103 Live concert. They also took the opportunity to announce that they'll also be releasing a full-length album sometime this year. Diamond (who is enjoying the glow of new motherhood) and Princess, the group's two female members, also shared that they are working on a separate joint project. They've certainly come a long way since the years-long beef they were embroiled in after the group parted ways.
So far, there is no release date for either project. And, while we appreciate how the "Knuck If You Buck" instrumental was repurposed for 2016's viral hit "Juju On That Beat," we're still all the way ready to go back to Crunk University.
In other reunion news, LCD Sound System will host a five-show residency in Brooklyn. You can learn more about it here.
