Marking the occasion of National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day yesterday, rapper, performance artist and activist Mykki Blanco released a stunning video for “Hideaway.” In collaboration with director Daisy Zhou, the visuals unpack the stigma faced by individuals living with HIV.

Since she made her status public in 2015, revealing she has been HIV positive since 2011, Mykki has been an outspoken advocate for the 37 million people currently living with the disease. “When we choose to stigmatize those living with HIV, we do a disservice to our own humanity,” Mykki says in a spoken introduction to the video.

“Hideaway” is from her acclaimed debut album, Mykki, which was released last year. Get to know Mykki – the artist and the album – in our exclusive interview right here. You can also watch our collaboration with COLORS Berlin, featuring Mykki Blanco performing “I’m in a Mood” below.
