Brand: Diet Starts Monday
Season: Summer 2017
Key Pieces: Graphic-printed tees
Editor’s Notes: Diet Starts Monday, an experimental apparel brand by sneaker designer John Geiger, co-founder of Premium clothing Davin Gentry, and DMV-area nightlife fixture Kevin “Scooty” Hallums, hosts a combination restaurant, bar and retail location in Washington, D.C. — featuring a full kitchen menu, signature cocktails and limited edition apparel.
An interchanging menu by Chef Red Beard features staples like the Navy Yardbird (a fried chicken sandwich on a glazed donut bun with plantains) and Capital City Cauliflower “Wings” (crispy buffalo cauliflower), with specials inspired by D.C. and the diverse cultures of the city. In addition, there’s an ice cream option from Mikey Likes It for dessert — the world’s first pop culture-inspired premium ice cream brand.
If you’re looking for drinks instead, the featured bar includes cocktails with Casa Noble tequilas like the award winning Dave Chappell (Casa Noble, ginger beer and cucumber jalapeño syrup), and a shoutout to one of D.C.’s favorite daughters, Taraji P Henson (a shot of Casa Noble tequila and a pint of Modelo Especial).
Furthermore, the space is decorated with neon signs, original art by Shepard Fairey and two pieces by Naturel.
Expect exclusive products to be released weekly as well, with the location open every Thursday through Sunday, remaining in operation through July 2017.
