On June 9, formative UK electronic music label Night Slugs is set to release Salvage 2017 — a new four-track EP by the label's head honcho, Bok Bok. We've got the premiere to one of the tracks from Bok's first solo release in three years, choice cut "Know Already."
The track is distinctly sparse, complete with a skittering beat, dog barks and a heavy, synth-laden beat. "Know Already" hearkens back to Bok Bok's 2011 Southside EP, which completely changed the game for UK club music. Southside's tracks featured in a slew of Boiler Room set lists, from an age where the now world-renowned music streaming platform was in its early stages. It's also his first solo release since 2014's Your Charizmatic Self EP, featuring the uber-talented Kelela on vocals - and Salvage 2017 is sounding set to have the same impact as Southside did all those years ago.
"Know Already" is built with the sort of raw 12-bit samples frequented in the early days of grime production. The main intention behind the track is dance floor mayhem, and there's no doubt you'll be hearing it used as a club tool for DJs, MCs and radio sets alike very soon. Listen to the weighty business below.
