Tune in and turn up

On Tuesday, Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino was the special guest on Clara Amfo’s BBC Radio 1 show, and explained that spending the past year in the UK has inspired him to work on music. “I’ve been working on that here,” he said. “You guys have been very instrumental in my music. London has been very inspirational.”

Back in June at the Governor’s Ball in New York, Glover addressed the audience towards the end of his set, saying “You’re in my heart. I’ll see you for the last Gambino album.” Since Glover implied the next Childish Gambino album would be his last, Amfo admitted she wasn’t sure what to call him. “Yeah, but it’s not yet, though,” he told her. “You still have a lot more time of calling me that if you want.”

Glover has been busy with his acting career. He’s set to portray Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars “Han Solo” film, and his TV series Atlanta took home many awards this year – a Peabody Award and Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. It’s also nominated for several Emmy awards. The second season of Atlanta won’t be out until 2018, but Glover assured Amfo it’ll be worth the wait. “I’m pretty happy with a lot of the things, and I think it’s better than the first season,” he said.
