Warning: spoilers ahead.

After getting into bed (not literally, at least yet) with Euron Greyjoy, Cersei proved that not only is she a revenge-driven sociopath who will stop at nothing to achieve her ends, but that she's also a damn savvy war commander, too.

At least until now.

A new fan theory has surfaced on Reddit explaining why, on last week's episode, the Queen may have made a fatal misstep. If you remember, she was seen in deep discussions with the Iron Bank, who, for want of a better term, had the Lannister family by the balls financially. Looting Highgarden of its riches, Cersei then paid the owed sum back in full because, of course, a Lannister always pays their debts. That was the sensible decision, right? Wrong.

According to the theory, Cersei's father, Tywin, knew that while the family owed money, the bank would always have a vested interest in their success. Now that it has its money, the main focus switches to who is going to come out on top in the war. Daenerys, with three dragons and several armies backing her up, is the clear favorite. And with the bank on her side, she'd surely have a clear path to the throne.
