The 25 Greatest Comedies of All Time, According to the BBC

Last year, the BBC Culture team came together to list the 100 greatest films of the 21st century. This year, they’ve decided to tackle the world of comedy.

Of course comedy is extremely subjective, but with the feedback of 235 film critics, 118 women and 135 men from over 50 countries worldwide, the critics managed to come up with a thoughtfully curated list of the 100 greatest comedies of all time.

BBC Culture hopes their list will bring light to the art form and give comedy films the credit they deserve. “We hope this list will help comedy receive the artistic consideration it deserves,” said Christian Blauvelt, Deputy Editor at BBC. “Or at the very least, that it will inspire you to discover films to put a smile on your face.”
