This year Nike is taking cues from the origins of “Latino” culture, or “Los Primeros,” for its LHM (Latino Heritage Month) collection. The project in turn finds the Swoosh collaborating with a number of local street artists from Latin America.
Four sneakers were ultimately chosen to make up the pack, including the Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1, Air Max 1 and Cortez. Each “Los Primeros” delivery thus has a deep story that connects to the history of Latin American culture, in addition to expressing the modern identity and influence of Latino culture today.
The capsule will be released one shoe at a time, each week from September 15 through October 15 in limited quantities.
In other Swoosh-related news, Supreme is expected to re-release its Nike SB Air Force 2 colorways this week.
