The first trailer for dystopian sci-fi thriller Maze Runner: The Death Cure has arrived and it's filled with '90s-style action shots. Directed by Wes Ball, The Death Cure is based on the last book in the The Maze Runner trilogy.

The trailer, which you can watch above, stars Kaya Scodelario, Dylan O'Brien, and Nathalie Emmanuel as Thomas (played by O'Brien) leads the group of escaped 'Gladers' on their last mission – and most dangerous to date. The mission is to enter a deadly maze to save their friends. But will they make it out alive?

The Death Cure is the follow-up to Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, which you can revisit here, and the final part of the film trilogy. It's slated for release on January 26, 2018.

Next up, here’s how the director made Pennywise so scary in IT.
