The Museum of Modern Art opened a new exhibit this morning focusing on clothing and accessories that have shaped culture throughout the years. Called “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” it’s the MoMA’s first fashion exhibit since 1944.

The exhibit traces the evolution of fashion and style throughout the years, ranging from dresses by Christian Dior, Givenchy and Coco Chanel to suits by Thom Browne, Giorgio Armani and Yohji Yamamoto.

Street fashion gets its shine too, as seen in a custom mask made from a pair of YEEZY 350 V2s, multiple sneakers like the Air Force 1, Chuck Taylor and adidas Superstar, and a projection of a Supreme box logo tee on a Hanes shirt as part of a larger presentation on graphic tees.

A good portion of “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” displays the kind of timeless garments that have an eternal appeal. Steve Jobs’s favorite Issey Miyake turtleneck is featured along with a Schott 1950s One Star Perfecto, a bright red Champion reverse weave hoodie, and an old pair of Levi’s 501 jeans. In addition to the graphic tee display, the basic Hanes white tee is also given its own space.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the MoMA Design Store has exclusive product tying into the exhibit. There’s a Champion Reverse Weave hoodie styled after the collegiate staple, a forest green Polo Ralph Lauren shirt—a reproduction of the first polo the label made–and a New Era fitted New York Yankees baseball cap with MoMA embroidery on the side.

Outside of the exhibit, there is also a revolving shoppable installation that will feature many of the brands displayed in the exhibit. Right now, New Era is selling a curved-brim adjustable version of its MoMA x Yankees cap in a wide array of colors, with future installations planned with labels like Champion.
