With critically-acclaimed science fiction films District 9, Elysium and Chappie contributing to his fame, filmmaker Neill Blomkamp and his own film production company, Oats Studios, has joined forces with American video game development brand Unity for a sequel to Unity’s award-winning 2016 short, ADAM.

Titled ADAM: The Mirror, this stunning seven-minute sci-fi short film takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and follows a newborn cyborg named Adam, a “human whose brain has been erased and imprisoned in a robotic shell,” who is “expelled from a walled city with a crowd of his fellow prisoners.”

Written by Blomkamp, Thomas Sweterlitsch and Jordan Brown, with Blomkamp directing, this visual will be followed by a third chapter, titled ADAM: The Prophet, which will reveal an antagonistic tribe of survivors.

Blomkamp said in a statement, “Ever since I started making films I’ve dreamed of a virtual sandbox that would let me build, shoot and edit photorealistic worlds all in one place. Today that dream came true thanks to the power of Unity 2017. The fact that we could achieve near photorealistic visuals at half of average time of our production cycles is astounding. The future is here and I can’t wait to see what our fans think.”

In other movie news, a new ‘Men in Black’ film is coming.
