Animal prints come in waves, but the latest to slither its way to the top of the fashion agenda comes care of Matthew Williams’ 1017 ALYX 9SM. Seen on the label’s bags, Vibram-soled boots, and apparel, python print has emerged as a major flex for SS19, with ALYX’s signature pieces having already been seen rocked by the likes of A$AP Rocky and Kim Kardashian.
Best known for its iconic chest rigs and the rollercoaster-inspired clasps used on belts and bags, 1017 ALYX 9SM has released some of the most noteworthy pieces of recent seasons. Often opting for a monochromatic palette, the new python print pieces are a much more statement offering to pull off.
This being the case, we sent Noah Thomas out to the fitting rooms to get a feel for how this bold look feels in front of the mirror.
“Matthew Williams has seriously outdone himself with this two-piece Alyx python set,” says Noah. “Though I prefer a wider pant, when it comes to leather, a more fitted cut adds an extra layer of glam and edge to the look. It’s the jacket that really shocked me, though. Williams’ decision to go with a more oversized jean jacket gives me early DMX vibes.
“This is definitely a collection for shoppers with big budgets, but I won’t be surprised to see this snakeskin top and bottom knocked off and sold at more reasonable prices elsewhere down the line.”
Below, we’ve gathered the full collection of men’s python-print pieces by 1017 ALYX 9SM from across its stocklist, including the two-piece set above, a selection of boots and sneakers, and a particularly dope cross-body bag.
