If you're not familiar already, 8IGB is a brand that's definitely worthy of a place on your radar. Based out of Paris with roots in Italy, its graphic-heavy, tongue-in-cheek designs have been the center of our attention of late. Here's why.
8IGB was founded by Ruben Bissoli. Having finished his studies at Milan's Istituto Marangoni, he uprooted to Paris to pursue further learning at Studio Berçot. On graduating, Bissoli started work as a design assistant at Balenciaga, where he specialized in prints, T-shirts, and knitwear. Still not settled, however, Bissoli's resumé went on to include a freelance career in graphic design — a stint that no doubt translates into 8IGB's bold tees.
After exploring these different career paths, Bissoli soon settled as a shoe designer for Elevenparis. It was here that Bissoli reaffirmed his love for streetwear, and ultimately formulated his own label — 8IGB Community Clothing. Setting up shop in a small alley in the 18th district of Paris — specifically at 8 Impasse de la Grosse-Bouteille (or 8IGB for short) — Bissoli took what he'd learned and channeled it into his own creative output.
8IGB HQ is a small building with an open door policy. The brand's home also functions as a space where anybody can come in and hang out. In fact, the label's philosophy is "open doors, open hearts, and open bar", and collection after collection this ethos shines through. Every piece from Bissoli's label boasts eye-catching, playful prints, as well as the slogan "I don't match" printed on the back and a signature match that's stitched under the 8IGB branding.
Aside from the brand's own website, 8IGB can currently only be found at one retailer — Superconscious. Located in the heart of Berlin's Mitte neighborhood, the pupular store is known for shining a light on smaller brands (they were the first store in Europe to carry Korean label Used Future), so it's not all that surprising that they're ahead of the curb on these very Berlin-friendly designs.
Having popped into Superconscious to see these pieces in the flesh, below we've rounded up all our favorites from 8IGB's FW18 collection. The Parisian brand's latest drop includes dope pieces that riff off the retro branding of IBM, best seen on a blue sweatshirt and frozen yellow jersey.
