Ace Hotel has announced it will open its first-ever Japanese outpost in Kyoto next year. The building is designed by Kengo Kuma, the architect behind Tokyo’s upcoming Olympic Stadium and The Opposite House in Beijing.

"Ace Hotel Kyoto will be a place in honest dialogue with Kyoto’s past and future legends. It’s our long-standing dream come true," the Ace Hotel's website reads. It "sits on the former grounds of the imperial palace and is rumored to once have been the home of Japanese samurai."

The hotel will be near the city's Nijō Castle, as well as walking distance to other tourist attractions like the Nishiki Market, the Museum of Kyoto and Kyoto Art Center.

The Ace Hotel Kyoto is expected to open sometime in 2019. What do you think of the building's rendering? Let us know in the comments below.
