Real Madrid has reportedly signed the most lucrative kit deal in soccer history, agreeing to a sponsorship with adidas worth $1.2 billion, far surpassing the Spanish club’s current $59 million a year deal. Reports suggest the contract will run from 2020 to 2030.
The $1.2 billion figure is also Real’s guaranteed amount, as the team could receive as much as $170 million per year with merchandising. Real Madrid has been sponsored by adidas since 1998.
On to how this compares, Real rival Barcelona currently has a deal in place with Nike worth approximately $95 million a year, while the Premier League’s Manchester United is the second highest-paid adidas club at $97 million per year.
