Editor’s Notes: Minneapolis-based sneaker upstart Oliver Cabell has teamed with Highsnobiety’s Image Director, NIK, to create what can only be described as the definition of a minimalist sneaker. NIK, or @aesthetnik as he is known on Instagram, is renowned for his exploration of hyper-minimalist photography in a sea of maximalist hyper saturation.

The inspiration behind the collaborative project with Oliver Cabell lies in architecture as a larger-than-life form of minimalism. The sandy pink rubber sole is a nod to the humble grain of sand, without which many of the greatest buildings in the world would not exist.

Coming in at just $208, the collaborative sneaker is another successful attempt by Oliver Cabell to manufacture durable luxury products at an affordable price point.

Speaking on the project, NIK said “Minimalism in my work gives room for imagination and this shoe is best understood and experienced in the same way that architecture is: by moving through space and interacting with the materials it’s built with – and letting imagination fill the rest.”

The AESTHETNIK x Oliver Cabell Low 1 is strictly limited to just 75 pairs worldwide and can be purchased via the button below on May 15 at 11AM EST.
