Editor’s Notes: To celebrate the opening of Items: Is Fashion Modern?, the Museum of Modern Art has linked up with Nike and Virgil Abloh to unveil a new collaborative Nike Air Force 1. First making its appearance at Miami Art Basel 2016, the all-black Nike Air Force 1 x Virgil Abloh will now be available to the public.

Originally released in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 was the first basketball shoe to use Nike Air technology, eventually going on to be reissued as part of the Abloh's "The Ten" series; one of the most anticipated releases in recent sneaker history.

In addition to the Air Force 1, the partnership also includes the "Color of the Month" Air Force pack. While the shoes were previously rumored to never be available to the public, the limited editions sneakers are set to be one of the first items on display, alongside a co-branded AF1 x MoMA Nike Elite basketball sock as a gift with purchase.
