For many avid sports fans, Michael Jordan is the closest figure we’ve had to a real-life superhero. Think about it, he has all the trimmings of a comic book crusader: nemeses like Isiah Thomas and Clyde Drexler, an iconic uniform with famed 23 insignia—transforming from relative Clark Kent to His Airness on the court—and above all, an extraordinary ability to fly.
This narrative of transformation and flight is brought to life with Jordan Brand’s latest iteration of the Jordan XII. Coined AJ XII "Wings," what is disguised as just another "playoff" retro reveals a unique wing-graphic behind a black leather upper when wiped or agitated on its surface. Additional features include gold hits on the lace stays, side panel, insole and outsole, a Wings Poster-inspired silhouette above the heel, and clear details along the sole.
Quantities for the AJ XII "Wings" will be limited to 12,000 pairs, priced at $225 USD each. The sneaker will be available for purchase beginning this Saturday, April 2, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. EST on Nike’s The Draw app.
Check the above photos for a closer look at the weekend’s drop, including a detailed look at the exclusive "Wings" graphic.
