Alexander Wang took to home turf to showcase his Fall/Winter 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week. Despite showing during the Big Apple's womenswear week (not to be confused with New York Fashion Week: Mens, which was a few weeks back), Wang punctuated his girls' offering with more than a few men's looks - a growing trend that's echoing the genderless direction fashion's moving in these days.
Central to the collection were said scruffy garments, many of which were adorned with socially-conscious phrases, Barbara Kruger-style (or Supreme-style, depending on who you ask). Strip club-inspired branding appeared across many items, too. For a brand as slick and commercially successful as Wang's, the sloganeering and sleazy imagery does feel a little shallow, it has to be said.
