[UPDATE] February 21, 2017 10:15 a.m. EST — In a lengthy statement to WWD, Philipp Plein's team has rebutted Alexander Wang's claims.

"Another designer’s work [being] copied is just not a possibility," said Philipp Plein marketing and communications director, Jennifer Leppla.

“I was involved in every step of the production of the Plein Sport FW [sic] 1718 show, working closely with the production team, our art director Simon Costin and Mr. Plein. Actually, the photo posted by Alexander Wang is rather deceiving, because it does not show the main theme of the show, which was the two-story gym hidden behind the reflective walls, which was revealed at a certain point during the show."

Uh oh. Might the #WANGSQUAD be gunning for Philipp Plein? It certainly seems that way. In a new Instagram post, Alexander Wang has posted a video meme accusing the German designer of plagiarism.

The show in question is Plein's January 2017 Plein Sport unveiling in Milan, which riffed off a similar race track-aesthetic to Wang's 2014 H&M show. Additionally, both of the elaborate sets featured harnessed athletes and models in boxing-inspired get-up, while both designers performed a victory run after their respective finales.

We've known for a minute that Wang loves his memes. In the post, comparative videos are joined by the caption: "Can I copy your homework? Yeah [sic] just change it up a bit so it doesn’t look like you copied." Oooh, talk about throwing shade.

Might Wang have a point? Below we can take a closer look at the two set designs.

Regardless, it's been a busy couple of days in the headlines for Plein and his brand. Madonna, Kylie Jenner, Tyga, Cardi B and Paris Hilton were just some of the stardust names in attendance at the Philipp Plein FW17 show in New York yesterday, which also featured catwalk appearances Young Thug, Fetty Wap and Desiigner.
