Since 2012, alt-J has been changing the way that we look at keyboard shortcuts and even more specifically, triangles. Last month, the indie rock band revealed that they would be releasing REDUXER, a collection of reinterpretations from their 2017 album RELAXER. The project features notable hip-hop artists such as Pusha-T, GoldLink, Rejjie Snow, Danny Brown, Little Simz and more.
To properly announce the album, alt-J recently performed the re-worked version of “In Cold Blood” with Pusha-T and Twin Shadow on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Today, we’re premiering the official music video for the collaboration, and it’ll take your mind to a whole new dimension. Pusha-T stars in the trippy animated visual directed by OSEAN which alt-J personally describe as “very un-bin.” In an email to Highsnobiety, Pusha-T explained how the track came together.
“I’ve done a bunch of the same festivals as alt-J and wanted to work with them for a while but never got the chance. When the opportunity came up to work on this remix, timing was just right,” he said. “We made a dope song and video to match. To be honest, I didn’t even see the final video until the other day. We shot it completely on green screen and I trusted their vision and process 100%.”
REDUXER is out on September 28 via Canvasback/Atlantic. Watch the entire video below.
