The latest in the 'Highsnobiety Visits' series, we recently took a trip Down Under to artist Anthony Lister’s Sydney studio.
When moving to Australia eight years ago, everywhere I turned people seemed to be talking about "Lister." That is, the incredible contemporary artist Anthony Lister.
Lister’s work is colorful, creative and full of character, and from his street roots has gone on to develop an ever-growing global fan base. With the street as his canvas, Lister’s ability to turn heads with his signature combination of innovative and thought-provoking work has seen him reach the stature of one of the most influential street artists of our time.
The street is only one environment the artist thrives in though, as his migration to the studio has seen his work evolve in new and exciting ways. Throughout the space the bold, provocative work that typifies Lister is evident everywhere, as are the comedic touches associated with his work which are scattered around the space as well.
As a chance to see Lister at work in his studio, the artist took on the task of creating a piece of work from scratch, in just five minutes. Having never tried a challenge like this before, we documented his creative process in the video above, as Lister utilized many of the skills learnt from his street work including speed, decisiveness and conviction.
