The 13-inch MacBook Pro will now boast an eighth-generation quad-core i5 or i7 processor for faster performance and has also been given a Touch Bar and Touch ID like on the model’s larger counterparts. Elsewhere, speakers and graphics have been improved, True Tone improves the colors of the Retina display, and a T2 security chip has been added. The laptop has a starting price of $1,299 for regular customers or $1,199 for students.
The new MacBook Air also gets True Tone technology, as well as the new keyboard. Elsewhere, it continues with a dual-core processor, all-day battery life, and 128GB of SSD storage on entry-level models. Most importantly, the model is getting a price drop, with the cheapest model now going for $1,099 for regular customers and $999 for students.
Both of the new models feature the third-generation butterfly keyboard introduced on high-end 2019 MacBook Pros, replacing tech that had caused problems for some MacBook users.
Students who buy one of the new models (or any other Mac or iPad) will receive a free pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones as part of the back-to-school promotion. Head to Apple for more information.
