Arcade Fire have not exactly been subtle in their hints that new music from the band would be coming our way very soon. It has also been widely accepted that they will be releasing the follow-up album to 2013's Reflektor sometime this year. Now, mere hours before Donald Trump becomes president, the band have unveiled their first piece of new music in years in the politically charged synth-pop jam "I Give You Power." Listen to it above.
With a guest spot from vocal powerhouse Mavis Staples, the track is a mixture of the rhythmically complex electro-dance Arcade Fire perfected on their last full-length and gospel-tinged soul thanks to Staples' fiery vocals. Issued directly in response to the incoming president (much like another band's long-awaited return), they wrote with the release that "It's never been more important that we stick together and take care of each other." No word yet on whether the track will appear on their upcoming album, but stay tuned for more.
