Ever since Mac Miller passed away last week, his friends and loved ones have been taking the time to publicly pay their respects. Shortly after the tragic news about his death spread, Ariana Grande shared a photo of the rapper without a caption. Today, the pop star finally broke her silence and posted a touching statement about her “dearest friend” along with a short video of him on Instagram.

“i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will,” she wrote. “we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to.”

Back in May, Miller and Grande’s romantic relationship dissolved after two years. In response to a fan that blamed her for him getting a DUI following the breakup, Grande briefly explained that she had “tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years,” but she wasn’t obligated to stay in a “toxic relationship.”

Her brother, Frankie released a heartfelt statement a few days ago as well. Read Ariana’s entire note about Miller in the post below.
