Founded in 1969, in its 50th year, ASPESI‘s fine-tuned wardrobe essentials have never been better. Though it initially specialized in men’s shirts, Alberto Aspesi’s eponymous label is best known now for its outerwear, constructed with meticulous emphasis on technical fabrics for maximum function.

To commemorate 50 years at the top of the game, ASPESI’s Fast Forward project was launched in collaboration with contemporary art magazine Flash Art. Alongside a structured program of activities and projects involving young international artists, ASPESI presented a new interpretation of the ever-popular shirt jacket – the DOPPIA 50.

Merging two cult items from the ASPESI range (its chambray shirt, “C”, and a technical fabric shirt called “13”) the DOPPIA 50 is the first in a trilogy of limited edition icons the label will launch this year (the others due in September and October). The new piece is a testament to the label’s outerwear nous, offering up a totally unisex reversible shirt-jacket that fuses style and function.

But while the DOPPIA 50 is a particular highlight for the transitional jacket season we’ve now entered, let’s not leave ASPESI’s other lightweight outerwear grails unsung. Taking cues from timeless shapes, workwear, and even athleisure, ASPESI is a veritable one-stop-shop for all your spring wardrobe needs right now.

Highlights which will last you years to come include the classic TIGRE SUMMER jacket – a multi-pocketed classic in navy blue, while more utilitarian aesthetics come from the nylon MINIFIELD VENTO and military-inspired M65 Original.
