Location: Paris Fashion Week
Key Pieces: The pink crewneck sweatshirt in slide 6 is an absolute must-have.
Editor’s Notes: Olivier Rousteing and Balmain‘s SS20 showcase at Paris Fashion Week coincided with Fête de la Musique, Paris’ annual all-night celebration of music. Held on June 21, the outdoor presentation welcomed more than 2,000 invitees to celebrate the longest day of the year. Balmain’s SS20 Men’s runway show seamlessly blended into the festival lineup, which consisted of various musicians chosen by Rousteing.
Those who attended the event were asked to join Rousteing, Balmain, and the musical acts in supporting (RED), an organization raising awareness and funds to eliminate HIV/AIDS. Profits from the sales of Balmain festival merch and food and drink, along with donations, have gone to support (RED)’s efforts.
Balmain SS20 largely draws inspiration from the early ’80s, featuring Easter egg pastels, soft denims, graphic monochromatic patterns, and American Gigolo tailoring.
