Beabadoobee is the type of singer-songwriter that takes your mind somewhere else when you desperately need a moment to escape from reality. The Londoner’s alternative bedroom pop hits are deeply saturated with softcore moods, wrapped up in the gentle embrace of grungy guitars and delicate drum beats. Today, we’re premiering the official music video for her latest single, “Disappear.” In an email to Highsnobiety, the 18-year-old explained how she was initially unsure of releasing the song because of how personal and sensitive it is.

“It was during a hard time for me and actually for a friend who was going through the same thing,” Beabadoobee said. “It’s about something that inevitably happens in a relationship, where a feeling that you have with someone can all of a sudden just disappear.”

The dreamy visual channels some serious Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind energy even though Beabadoobee was a toddler when it originally came out. She told us that it “plays with this idea with a surreal perspective, taking the viewer back in time through an ended relationship.” Similar to the movie, the ending is at the beginning.

“Disappear” is the opening track off her Loveworm EP which is out now on The 1975’s label Dirty Hit. For more from Beabadoobee, check out her pair of 2018 EPs, Patched Up and Lice. Take a Super 8mm and 16mm trip down memory lane through the video below.
