Berluti has collaborated with LVMH-owned eyewear manufacturer Thélios for a range of Fall/Winter 2019 sunglasses.
The eyewear, which arrives in six different models, is inspired by Berluti’s famed patinas, which are created by a traditional process of coloring leather in signature hues of blue, red, and purple. Referencing the brand’s long history of craftsmanship, the patterning on the frames recalls the old marble tables at Berluti’s factory in Ferrara, Italy.
The new collection mixes classic frame styles — round, rectangular, and aviator made from striated acetate — with futuristic lenses featuring rainbow-effect colorways of icy blue and sunset red, as well as distinctive Berluti branding printed directly on the glass. As a heritage label with more than 100 years of history, Berluti has added small but impressive details such as a subtle metallic “B” on the hinge and nose plates.
The sunglasses were first seen at Berluti creative director Kris Van Assche’s inaugural FW19 show at Paris Fashion Week, setting the tone for the brand’s more modern direction, including a new logo and replete with some razor-sharp cuts.
Berluti’s FW19 eyewear will be available in store July 1.
