Key Pieces: The collection is clean but the range of short zip-up jackets and long coats are standouts. The two-tone sweatpants and beige trousers with a high hem, as well as the suiting are solid pieces too. The American West-inspired intarsia knit with a “B” logo is also an eye-catcher.
Designer Holly Jovenall has unveiled the label’s FW19 collection dubbed “The Policy of Memory,” and it’s inspired by Jovenall’s home roots in Pennsylvania, growing up on a horse farm. Influences range from cowboy Western details, to workwear and part punk that derives from her intimate memories are evident.
Encompassing a variety of outerwear styles, shirts, pants, tees and more, graphics are utilized across some pieces which takes cues from Jovenall’s early farm life. For the season, BILLY also introduces suiting for the first time to add a mature sense to the collection, in addition to a range of finely crafted knitwear.
Notable details throughout the line are also prominent such as hand painted wax-like contrast coating on suit pants and Western shirts, as well as black denim with a custom wash, while other materials like cotton and cashmere are also utilized.
