Last year's Freetown Sound, the latest album from Blood Orange and one of our picks for the best of 2016, contained a mini-masterpiece within itself titled "E.V.P." It was a track that featured the incomparable Debbie Harry of Blondie, and it managed to summon the sounds of late '70s New York disco into the here and now. And now Blondie has returned the favor, enlisting Blood Orange to author their new song "Long Time." Listen to it below.
You would be forgiven for confusing this new work with Blondie's ultra-iconic 1978 classic "Heart of Glass," as the band has admitted it is a direct inspiration and response to their mammoth single of days old. It is set to appear on their upcoming album Pollinator, which will have features from the likes of Charli XCX and Sia.
Pollinator is set to drop May 5. Revisit Blood Orange's "E.V.P." below.
In other music news, Katy Perry has dropped a remix of her new single "Chained to the Rhythm" which features none other than Lil Yachty. Tune in right here.
