As you might have guessed, The Walt Disney Company did very well at the box office in 2019. Having bought Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and now Fox, it was hard not to.
In the U.S., seven of the top 10 box office successes came from Disney. Unsurprisingly, Avengers: Endgame, the highest-grossing motion picture of all time, secured the number one spot, followed by The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Captain Marvel and Frozen 2.
In terms of worldwide numbers, the results are fairly consistent, although the Sony-Disney co-production, Spider-Man: Far From Home faired better overseas.
According to Business Insider, Disney amassed $12.7 billion in box office revenue this year, while Warner Bros. came in second with $3.543 billion. Joker, It: Chapter Two, Detective Pokémon, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Shazam! performed well for Warner Bros.
