Confident Cannabis launched roughly nine months ago and is already the largest real-time database for cannabis in the world. What exactly is Confident Cannabis, you might ask. Well, it's basically the stock exchange of weed.
Confident Cannabis is set out to find who has the strongest weed, which they are currently still in the process of investigating. Next, the plan is to create a cannabis marketplace that connects dispensaries with the best growers.
All in all, Confident Cannabis, which was started by four Stanford graduates, has received $3 million USD in seed funding led by Slow Ventures thus far. The effects of marijuana differ greatly, depending on the species, strain and quality, which is why Confident Cannabis's data is so crucial, and you cannot judge such by simply looking at weed.
For that, Confident Cannabis has a marijuana-specific laboratory information management system. Third party herb labs can then install the system in order to determine the results of samples they've been sent by producers. Producers, on the other hand, can simply log in to Confident Cannabis's secure app to obtain trackable charts about their product's potency. This is of course useful when producers are attempting to sell their marijuana to dispensaries.
Currently, the Confident Cannabis software is available in Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, California and New Mexico, and soon will be in Washington, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Arizona.
