Members of Caribou, Hot Chip, Floating Points, Simian Mobile Disco and Junior Boys have linked up to form a supergroup for a brand new album. Tactus Tempus is an interpretation of composer Frank McCarty’s experimental score from 1973. The album resulted from an impromptu jam sesh in Hot Chip frontman Joe Goddard’s basement studio in London last summer.
Originally a graphic-based work, the musicians projected McCarty’s original slides on the wall as they laid down the tracks on synthesizers down in Goddard’s basement. The group recorded two live versions, each in one take. The album will drop March 17 on Bandcamp (via Geej Recordings) and everywhere else on March 24. While we're waiting to see what this talented group of musicians came up with, we're going to dig into Caribou's 1,000-song playlist.
