Situated on a naturally sloping terrain in Luz, Portugal is Casa Elíptica or Elliptical House, designed by local architecture firm Mário Martins Atelier.
As the name suggests, the structure is essentially defined by its elliptical profile, where the house is sculptural and organic, and it's shaped by the wind and the sea that embraces the wide floating oval located on the central patio of the house.
Evoking fluidity and embracing its surroundings, the simple and clean aesthetic is further executed with the exterior and interior spaces rendered in white for a sense of equilibrium throughout the structure.
The architect shares, "It is in this ambience that the house should be experienced, without being aware of where the house begins and ends. The fluidity and lightness of its organic design reflects natural shapes, thus defining the house architecturally in its natural setting. And that is the intention for when the building work is completed."
In more architecture, this Piracaia residence is designed like a modern warehouse.
