Editor’s Notes: Over the weekend, Swiss performance running brand, On, presented its first-ever lifestyle sneaker at atmosCon in Tokyo, Japan. The relatively young brand, which has been around since 2010, has found great success in the performance market and aims to translate that to more casual, lifestyle-focused footwear. The Cloud Hi Edge is the brand’s first attempt at creating a sneaker its customers won’t be wearing to run and will be rolling out the all-new silhouette over the coming weeks, with a limited initial release in Japan.

On takes its popular Cloud silhouette and turns it into a mid-height sneaker that is slightly bulkier in shape than its sleeker, performance counterpart. With much of the technology and technical materials being carried over, the main differentiator between the Cloud Hi Edge and On’s performance line is the color blocking.

“Over the last few years, we noticed our fans had adopted On not just for their runs or on mountain trails, but in their day to day lives,” explains On co-founder David Allemann. “Now we’re taking our iconic shoe to the next level with our first true sneaker, the Cloud Hi Edge: rooted in performance, inspired by running, made for exploration. All day, every day.”

The sneaker, which is available in a number of eye-catching colorways, will drop globally on October 17. Stay tuned for a full list of retailers carrying the shoe. In the meantime, check it out in detail above.
