Editor’s Notes: Our data has become our most valuable and vulnerable commodity. And to this point, Amsterdam-based brand,Daily Paper, is using its SS19 campaign to consider how we can “protect ourselves and our freedom with the power of privacy in a time where we question if it even still exists.” Not known to only question pre-defined ideals, the label has built a reputation on reaching out to future generations with challenging concepts.

This latest campaign is a reclamation of sorts, drawing inspiration from Africa’s unique response to the digital present. The result is Daily paper’s answer to the question, “How to Survive & Succeed in the Digital Age.” The label’s history is firmly rooted in the African heritage of its co-founders Hussein Suleiman, Jefferson Osei, and Abderrahmane Trabsini.

The SS19 collection was brought to life in South Africa in a photo series that spoke to the Daily Paper’s passion for inclusivity and veracity. The Printed Money Collage Fajo Shirt is emblematic of this particular aesthetic. Like many pieces in the collection, it is inspired by the ideology of the digital age; eclectic and poly-vocal, much like the internet itself. The sun-bleached pastel palette draws aesthetic cues from African signography.
