Back in the summer of 2015, David Byrne (yes, that David Byrne) organized a massive concert/performance art piece titled Contemporary Color. Other than the fact that it employed ten renowned musicians and ten color guard teams from around the U.S., no one really knew quite what the hell was going on. Fortunately, an answer has arrived thanks to a documentary of the same name that sheds some light on the project. Watch the trailer above.
Any fan of Byrne's iconic work with Talking Heads will know that he doesn't really do things on a small scale. Contemporary Color is no exception, and the trailer shows the massive amount of effort that went into tying the various aspects of the project together. Some of the artists Byrne employed for original compositions (and who appear in the documentary) include Dev Hynes, Nelly Furtado, St. Vincent and tUnE-yArDs. And naturally, Byrne himself lends his trademark quirky tenor to the mix.
Contemporary Color will be released in theaters on March 1. Still confused about exactly what the hell this is? Take a look at a scene from the documentary explaining it below.
In other music news, Danny Brown will be teaming back up with producer Paul White for the latter artist's Accelerator EP. Get the details right here.
