If there’s one thing that gets most of us through the day, it’s discovering new artists. Whether we’re scrolling through SoundCloud looking for mood tunes to help alleviate a case of the Mondays, or listening to a mixtape someone has sent our way, not a day goes by without some kind of music playing in our offices.
Since our inboxes tend to get inundated with projects from artists interested in coverage, we’re spotlighting some of the quietly wondrous musicians that find their way to us each week. These artists may not have conquered the Billboard 100 (yet) but they’ve all got something unique to offer, and they’re all worth getting to know.
Scroll through to see our 10 under the radar artists to discover this week, and stay tuned for a fresh selection next week.
Where: Queens, New York What They’ve Been Working On: Finishing the year off strong with a trove of new singles. Sounds Like: The lyrics really get this one right: this absolutely sounds like getting a really cute hickey.
Where: Detroit What They’ve Been Working On: Gearing up for the release of his forthcoming Porno EP. Sounds Like: Pulling up incredibly slowly in a car with a subwoofer so loud it could actually make the earth quake.
Where: London What They’ve Been Working On: His new EP Evo, a follow-up to this summer's Infamous EP. Sounds Like: Going to a DIY rap show held at an abandoned carnival and lighting a blunt in the funhouse.
Where: Rotterdam What They’ve Been Working On: This fire new single "Don't Blow My High," her first since last year's collaboration with Lady Bee. Sounds Like: Feeling the perfect amount of faded as you slip your sunglasses over your red eyes sitting poolside.
Where: Brooklyn What They’ve Been Working On: Riding high from the release of his debut project The Guala Way, in addition to a remix with G Herbo and the above single. Sounds Like: That moment at the concert where you're stuck getting a drink at the bar, but suddenly this track plays and you haul ass to the dancefloor.
Where: New York What They’ve Been Working On: Prepping her debut EP, due out early next year, of which "Say It To My Face" is the second single. Sounds Like: Keying your ex's car after they cheat on you in a way that feels cute and quirky - not vindictive.

Where: New York What They’ve Been Working On: After working as a backing vocalist for the likes of Sleigh Bells, she's stepping into the spotlight as an artist in her own right. Sounds Like: Waving goodbye to a lover as they get on a boat to sail away; feeling excited for them but heartbroken at your own loss.
Where: London What They’ve Been Working On: Blowing minds with their multi-discipline art collective, exemplified by the above and their recent visual for "Lavish." Sounds Like: If an urban planning city council meeting had their microphones replaced with Autotune.
Where: Louisville, Kentucky What They’ve Been Working On: Churning out one excellent single after another, such as "Try," "Do That Shit," and the above. Sounds Like: Going to the beach off-season, where the familiar sensations of warmth have become cold and bitter.
