Tune in and turn up

If there’s one thing that gets most of us through the day, it’s discovering new artists. Whether we’re scrolling through SoundCloud looking for mood tunes to help alleviate a case of the Mondays, or listening to a mixtape someone has sent our way, not a day goes by without some kind of music playing in our offices.

Since our inboxes tend to get inundated with projects from artists interested in coverage, we’re spotlighting some of the quietly wondrous musicians that find their way to us each week. These artists may not have conquered the Billboard 100 (yet) but they’ve all got something unique to offer, and they’re all worth getting to know.

Scroll through to see our 10 under the radar artists to discover this week, and stay tuned for a fresh selection next week.

Where: Stockholm
What They’ve Been Working On: The blistering kiss-off of a new single “Uber”, which proves that being heartless actually does go hand in hand with being fab.
Sounds Like: The internal monologue we’ve all had after a lame hookup but rarely have the courage to say out loud set to a trap beat.

Bernard Jabs

Where: Tifton, GA
What They’ve Been Working On: Crafting their new single “Youngsta”, a fitting title for the 16-year-old (!) MC.
Sounds Like: The days in August that are so hot the air around you feels like molasses.

Where: London
What They’ve Been Working On: Crafting a visual worthy of matching the seduction on display in latest single “Sexy”.
Sounds Like: The inside of your brain when you strut down the street knowing your outfit is on point.

Where: Montreal
What They’ve Been Working On: New single “Body & Soul”, a smashing follow-up to last year’s Wet Paint EP.
Sounds Like: Falling asleep watching videos of old-timey jazz clubs and dreaming of a love affair with the sultry lounge singer.

Michael Seyer

Where: Gardena, CA
What They’ve Been Working On: Bad Bonez, an album of aching lo-fi, pop that was recorded entirely in his bedroom.
Sounds Like: When you’re depressed post-breakup and even things like going to the store are almost comically tragic.

Where: Boston
What They’ve Been Working On: After producing for such A-list clients as David Byrne and serpentwithfeet, mmph is prepping their debut EP Dear God for an April release.
Sounds Like: Turning into a roach Kafka-style and joining a subterranean colony of fellow human-sized insect-people to plan for the coming war of the machines.

Moesha 13

Where: Marseille
What They’ve Been Working On: Leading the charge of the French underground, Moesha 13’s latest is “RESPECT”, a track dedicated to all her gadjis (girls).
Sounds Like: Driving extremely fast through a desolate landscape and feeling like the baddest ass imaginable.

Where: San Francisco
What They’ve Been Working On: The Analogue EP, a 9-track project that serves as Odie’s debut, due out on April 9.
Sounds Like: Kissing in a swimming pool.

Where: New York
What They’ve Been Working On: Finishing up the Gateway Drug EP, a project that is sure to encapsulate their awe-inducing blend of rap, EDM and rock.
Sounds Like: If Led Zeppelin personally hired Travis Scott and Skrillex to cover IV in its entirety.

World’s Fair

Where: Queens
What They’ve Been Working On: Their debut album, New Lows, which is due to arrive this spring via Fool’s Gold.
Sounds Like: Walking into a warehouse party that feels a little sinister, but instead of leaving you drink more bourbon.
