DJI introduces the Mavic Air, an ultraportable camera drone designed for travel and the outdoor enthusiast. The gadget comes complete with the best features from the brand’s signature Mavic series, including a 4K camera, new QuickShot modes and SmartCapture for more convenient and intelligent photo and video capturing, and FlightAutonomy 2.0 with Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems for smarter, safer flight.

The Mavic Air weighs in at just 430 grams, making it the most portable DJI drone to date. The arms and propellers can easily be folded down to rest flush with the frame, of course allowing for convenient carrying.

The camera then welcomes a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor and the equivalent of a 24mm F2.8 lens for high quality photo and video capture. New HDR algorithms preserve more highlight and low light details, as you can also shoot 4K video at 30 fps, in addition to 1080p slow motion video at 120 fps. And thanks to 8 GB of onboard storage, you can save your photos and videos directly on the device.

The Mavic’s Sphere panorama feature lets you automatically shoot and stitch together 25 photos to ultimately create a clear 32-megapixel panoramic image, while predefined flight paths in turn ensure your subject remains in frame.

The drone has a maximum flight time of up to 21 minutes and can stably fly in winds up to 22 miles per hour. Sport mode allows the Mavic Air to travel at speeds up to 42 miles per hour.

Starting at $799 USD, DJI’s all-new Mavic Air is available for pre-order beginning January 28. For more, visit DJI.
