Bristol-based trio Elder Island makes the type of music that gets us excited about what the future could possibly have in store. Today, we’re premiering their Nic Kane-directed music video for the single “You + I” and should warn you that it might feel triggering for anyone who recently binge-watched Black Mirror: Bandersnatch on Netflix. Without giving too much away, let’s just say that this pastel-tinted visual involves getting sucked into an over-the-top infomercial from one of your worst nightmares. In an email to Highsnobiety, Elder Island described the whole experience of shooting the “retro-futuristic” video as an “amazing and ambitious venture.”

“We feel Nic Kane has created an incredible visual stage for both the track and our ‘Omnitone Collection,'” they said. “Enriching our concepts with new ideas and aesthetics, the video is a dark but comical visual triumph.”

The synth soaked track is featured on Elder Island’s forthcoming debut album, The Omnitone Collection, which is available for pre-order. While you wait for that project to drop, dive into the trio’s dreamy EPs Seeds in Sand and Elder Island. Watch the goofy narrative unfold in the video below.
