Sometimes, you have to put your pride aside and make a choice based on what is the most practical in the long run. Electro-R&B artist Ellzo has already come to terms with this at the age of 21. Today, we’re premiering the West Londoner’s new single “Work Out” featuring JACKLYN and RaneRaps. In an email to Highsnobiety, Ellzo explained how the energetic soul song is about the tough decision of prioritizing his career over everything else—including a shot of love.

“When I first started working on ‘Work Out, I was chatting to a girl I was getting very close to,” he said. “I was constantly putting aside my music to be with her, which started to make me go off track musically. For the first time in my life, I had to make the daunting decision to pick between music and my love life… which ultimately left me in this position as a single lil boy.”

“Work Out” is the opener off Ellzo’s forthcoming Time Travel EP due out on October 26 via Majestic Casual. The project is a vessel of his raw emotions, and he personally describes it as “a journey that showcases my ongoing growth and development in music.” Bump the fresh track below.
