American label Engineered Garments recently teamed up with heritage British footwear maker Dr. Martens for a new capsule collection. The collaboration reworks DM's iconic 1461 silhouette into a modern utilitarian iteration, where EG founder, Daiki Suzuki, added subtle touches such as an asymmetrical vamp and eyelets that sport a half traditional/half ghillie loop.
To promote the shoe, EG's Angelo Urrutia and Parisian photographer Clément Pascal created a series of photos that pay homage to Dr. Martens' original uniformed workman consumer – postmen, police officers, factory workers and the like.
The workman's uniform is a big vibe in menswear right now, with everyone from OFF-WHITE and Heron Preston to Landlord and Peels tapping the aesthetic, so Engineered Garments x Dr. Martens really couldn't have come at a better time.
Look out for the shoe when it drops on January 25.
