The latest vinyl player to hit crowdfunding critical mass is Floating Record, which, needless to say, is turning things on its side. The elevated sound system allows for easy listening on a vertical turntable, while acting as a display and conversation piece via the ability to show off vinyl in the most suitable fashion. Designed by Gramovox, the record player includes a wood base with full-range stereo speakers, an acrylic plinth and platter to hold up the disc securely, a rear control panel, and a belt drive that allows listeners to play at either 33 1/3 or 45 RPM.
Funded online through Kickstarter the project has over $500,000 pledged and will be available in December starting at $449. In the meantime, take a look at a fully functioning LEGO record player.
