Casio's inaugural G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, has been a staple timepiece dating back to the 1980s. Known for its signature plastic case and digital display, the watch was also water resistant to 10 atmospheres, thus capable of handling a 10-meter drop, Gear Patrol points out.
Now, Casio is finally updating the model with a more fashionable steel band. An ode to the original, the GMW-B 5000 D-1 features the same case and digital display, albeit updated with modern tech. You can sync the watch to your smartphone thanks to Bluetooth connectivity and G-SHOCK's connected app, allowing you to locate your timepiece when lost, set alarms, designate secondary timezones, and more.
The all-new GMW-B 5000 D-1 is scheduled to launch in April, starting at $600 USD. A gold-plated version will then be available for $700 USD.
