Game of Thrones writer and co-executive producer Bryan Cogman has compiled a list for Entertainment Weekly of the most important episodes to rewatch before season eight premieres on Sunday. As he’s the only writer to have been on the show since season one, alongside showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, it’s safe to say he knows as much as the Three-Eyed Raven.

His selection starts with the first two episodes of season one, back when everybody was still alive and well. The choices go on to cover most seasons pretty equally, devoting a little more time to season three thanks to the life-changing (or ending) Red Wedding. Only one episode from season five makes the cut, but it’s a big one, featuring the gigantic White Walker battle at Hardhome.

Finally, we finish with vital plot points from seasons six and seven, including the reveal that Daenerys Targaryen is actually Jon Snow’s aunt — as they’re in bed together, of course.

If you haven’t got time (or the willpower) to watch 21 episodes before Sunday evening, you can always watch this 12-minute recap of all 67 episodes so far.

The entire rewatch list is as follows:
