In mid-2015, Fox News host Geraldo Rivera went at Kendrick Lamar, after the Compton rapper performed his new single “Alright” at the BET Awards on top of a vandalized police car. Although the tone of "Alright" is generally one of positivity, Geraldo missed the point, and insisted that Lamar was sending the wrong message, then criticized him on the air.

Naturally, Kendrick responded to Rivera with a video of his own, where Lamar asks "How can you take a song that's about hope, and turn it into hatred?"

Apparently Rivera's comments have not boded well with Lamar over the past year-and-a-half, as Kendrick's latest studio album DAMN. actually samples the original Fox News segment on two new tracks “BLOOD.” and “DNA." Of course this prompted Rivera to weigh in once again, and it seems the commentator hasn't changed his view much, as he argues that hip-hop lyrics establish an “us against them mentality” between minority youth and police offers, additionally stating this is the “the worst role-model. It’s the worst example.”
