The latest in our Meet the Muse series is registered nurse in the neuroscience intensive care unit, Gienelle Usi. Hailing from Las Vegas and now based in L.A., photographer Emanuele D’Angelo captured Gienelle in her adopted hometown in a range of streetwear looks from the likes of Gosha Rubchinskiy, Alexander Wang, Rick Owens, Celine, Lvxwa, XLARGE and adidas.

Who or what are you currently inspired by?

Traveling and observing different norms. Music and it’s influencers. My loved ones.

What was the thing that first got you interested in fashion?

Watching my favorite artists in music videos while I was growing up – Aaliyah, Jennifer Lopez, Pharrell.

How has your style changed over the years?

My wardrobe has condensed to pieces I really appreciate – whether it be streetwear, vintage or designer.

Describe your current style.

I like being comfortable so oversized pieces are definitely my go to. I love combining sporty and sexy.

What is the thing that gets you out of bed each morning?

Natural sunlight. I like to get shit done while its bright out.

If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?

I love being a nurse but I definitely want to cross over into the business world/fashion industry.

If you weren’t in your current city, where would you live?

I would live in New York City because of the fashion, culture, dining and the tall skyscrapers. It would be a fun challenge.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

You already know what to do, so just do it.

How do you relax?

Burning Frankincense or lavender incense, rubbing peppermint oil on my forehead while watching anime with my boyfriend.

What in life are you most grateful for?

My family and close friends. I can be a bit much at times, but they’re always patient and there for me.

What is the quality you value most in friendship?

Trust and humor

What is the greatest accomplishment of your life so far?

So far, getting my bachelor’s degree. Nursing school was a bitch.

What is something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time, but haven’t yet?

Moving overseas to learn a new language. I’d move to Rome, Italy to learn Italian or to Barcelona and improve on my Spanish.

What album do you currently have on repeat?

Kiss Land during the winter is soothing.

What is your fondest memory?

I grew up listening to Queen because my dad would always play their albums. So when we both got to see Queen and Paul Rogers live at the Hollywood bowl, it was just an amazing experience.

What skill do you possess that people wouldn’t expect from you? 

I know how to do CPR.

What could you eat every day and not get tired of?

A cheeseburger from In & Out with a side of animal fries if I really want to treat myself.

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

Living in New York with my own business/brand.
